GERMS is a peer-reviewed English-language infectious diseases journal, published quarterly (March, June, September, December) by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases "Prof. Dr. Matei Balş", Romania, and the European Academy of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases. The Journal aims to provide access to knowledge and practice in the area of infectious diseases in humans at the highest standards for health, social and education professionals. The Journal publishes articles on a wide range of topics, describing research results in all areas connected to microorganisms, including, but not limited to, prevention, pathogenesis, clinical description, optimal practices of diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases in humans, microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, public health, evaluation of current and novel treatments, updates in infectious diseases, etc. The Journal welcomes the submission of the following types of work: reports of original research, original clinical observations accompanied by analysis and discussion, critical reviews, statistical compilations, descriptions of evaluation of methods or procedures, case reports with discussions, practice guidelines, letters to the editor, comments, etc.
