Tobacco Control and Public Health in Eastern Europe (TCPHEE) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal. TCPHEE is aimed to cover research valuable for shaping healthy public policy in low- and middle-income countries with primary focus on the countries of the former Soviet Union. TCPHEE covers all areas of Public Health with special interest to issues related to economic, demographic and epidemiologic transition, East-West differences, and development of Public Health and national health systems. As a multidisciplinary journal it aims at attracting contributions from epidemiology, health economics, social sciences (sociology of health), environmental health sciences, and other disciplines of relevant to public health. Both observational and experimental studies are welcome; as well as quantitative and qualitative. The journal provides a forum for discussion and debate of current international public health issues, with a focus on Eastern Europe. We understand that because of funding constraints as well as peculiarities of education in the past, many studies conducted in this geographic area bear additional limitations of study design which makes them not readily accepted in western journals and hope to contribute to the development of internationally acceptable research in the region.
