Orthodontics - The Art and Practice of Dentofacial Enhancement

ISSN (printed): 2160-2999. ISSN (electronic): 2160-3006.

The orthodontic landscape is quite different now than when the World Journal of Orthodontics came into existence in 2000—from the way patients view the services that orthodontists render to the advances in technology associated with orthodontic practice. No longer a mechanistic retooling of dental occlusion, orthodontics is more of a life-enhancing exercise, with the patient’s improved dentofacial appearance leading to greater opportunities in life. To reflect this new paradigm and WJO’s new focus on esthetic treatment, the journal has become ORTHODONTICS: The Art and Practice of Dentofacial Enhancement. Dr Rafi Romano, the journal’s new editor-in-chief, and Dr Marc B. Ackerman, associate editor, have enlisted a multidisciplinary editorial board to represent the dental specialties actively involved in dentofacial enhancement. The contents of the journal will meet the growing demand to augment the esthetic orthodontic database. And to best convey its new focus, the journal itself takes on a new appearance—from its elegant cover to its esthetic design and interpretive presentation. Web presence is also enhanced, with video features keyed to each issue. It’s a new journal for a new time.
