Neurological and psychiatric diseases, such as dementia and Parkinson's disease, or diseases from cerebrovascular pathologies have garnered increased interest among researchers and clinicians in the last few years, due to their relevance, frequency of presentation, and, mainly, due to direct social cost deriving from degenerative disorders. Therefore, different neuropsychiatric pathologies determine the future of the world population. Advances in molecular and biochemical competency and neuropharmacological implementation are both major determining factors of the success of many journals. Why should we read yet another? This new medical series, Hot Topics in Neurology and Psychiatry, is aimed at making laboratory and genetic findings available to clinicians, keeping them necessarily (almost fundamentally) updated, and refining their expertise. This is a challenge for the authors, chosen among world renown experts, as well as for the editors, who try to make the authors' choices and strategies most suitable to clinical desiderata. Our intent will be achieved when clinicians find this series informative and essential for their clinical practice.
