Commencing with Volume 49, Issue 1 Australian Journal of Soil Research will be known as Soil Research. The journal has long had a broader scope than the title implied, and this new name more accurately reflects its primary focus on global issues in soil science. The journal will continue to place the greatest priority on original research; methodological, theoretical, and review papers; while viewpoints and opinion papers are also welcomed. The journal will continue to encourage submissions that are at the frontier of the field. Soil Research is an international journal for the publication of soil research relating to primary production, land and water management, environmental pollution, and site remediation. The journal has a particular, but not exclusive, focus on research that promotes understanding of soils in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the Pacific, as well as those in other tropical and Mediterranean environments. The primary factor determining suitability for publication is that the research present new and significant findings on an issue relevant to soil science.
