LEA - Lingue e Letterature d'Oriente e d'Occidente
ISSN (printed): 1824-4920. ISSN (electronic): 1824-484X.
The first issue of LEA - Lingue e Letterature d'Oriente e d'Occidente, a periodical with an explicit comparative vocation produced by the Department of Modern Philology of the University of Florence, attempts to bring together two literary cultures: that cultivated in University study and education, and that practised by the writers and critics. This dialogue is developed in three sections: a writing section (poetry, narrative and memoirs), a section dealing with the essay and a watchdog section (articles, reviews and electronic resources in literary translation). LEA is presented in dual format: in printed version, published by Carocci, and online published by Firenze University Press. The electronic version, which will be updated at more regular intervals and which will avail of the collaboration of postgraduate students and young researchers, will provide a "window" on the current literary scene of the linguistic areas of competence of the Department: it will offer a series of informative and critical columns giving information about literary encounters and debates at European and international level, editorial events, literary training and professions and its regional and planetary institutions.
