IJMMM is a refereed publication in the field of machining and machinability of materials. Machining is an important subject for scientific research with application in industry. The term machining is used to cover chip formation operations - turning, milling, drilling and grinding, for example. In the engineering industry, there has been renewed interest in high speed machining. Recently, the use of advanced materials has increased in various areas of science and technology due to their special mechanical and physical properties. Advanced materials are characterised by a combination of light weight, very high strength and a high stiffness. Therefore, advanced materials have replaced conventional materials in various fields of application such as aeronautical, aerospace, automotive, biomechanical and mechanical engineering, as well as in other industries. As result of these properties and potential applications, there exits an urgent need to understand questions associated with the machinability of these materials.
