Just twenty years after it first appeared, in 1995, at the University of Venice Ca’ Foscari, Il Tolomeo has gone digital and open access with Edizioni Ca’ Foscari. The journal was the brainchild of a group of postcolonial scholars in Venice. From the beginning Il Tolomeo found room for postcolonial voices from the Francophone world, a space which was shared with writers using English. Il Tolomeo has always been an unorthodox publication: it has fought its battles against skeptics and conservatives. It reflects the path and the ambitions of a subject area full of promise, a vehicle for extraordinary new currents. It has offered access to a wide range of writers through a wealth of interviews and otherwise unpublished material, often translated into Italian. Now, with issue number 17, it has come of age academically speaking. The adventure of Il Tolomeo continues!
