Journal of Trauma & Dissociation

ISSN (printed): 1529-9732. ISSN (electronic): 1529-9740.

The Journal of Trauma & Dissociation is dedicated to publishing peer-reviewed scientific literature on psychological trauma, dissociation, and traumatic memory in children and adults. It is the official journal of the International Society for the Study of Dissociation (ISSD), the only international nonprofit professional society that promotes research and training in the identification and treatment of dissociative disorders. Written by experts in dissociative disorders and psychological trauma, the journal provides in-the-trenches clinicians with science that will guide them to more effective healing of traumatized persons. The Journal of Trauma & Dissociation welcomes the contributions of many disciplines, including anthropology, cross-cultural analysis, neurobiology, pharmacology, physiology, psychology, psychometry, and psychotherapy. By taking a rigorously scientific multidisciplinary approach, it enables psychologists, psychotherapists, and other health professionals to keep current with recent research and new clinical tools for dealing with issues of trauma and dissociation. The journal addresses issues ranging from controlled management of traumatic memories and successful interventions to the ethical and philosophical issues entailed by trauma. The journal's wide-ranging consideration of dissociation and trauma issues includes discussions of such practice-oriented topics as: nonverbal techniques as an adjunct to talk therapy, including art therapy, recreational therapy, and massage therapy; screening and diagnostic tools; family interventions; addictions, depression, eating disorders, and other accompanying syndromes; false and recovered memories; boundary issues between therapist and client; legal and ethical issues.
