Leisure, formerly the Journal of Applied Recreation Research, is the official publication of the Canadian Association for Leisure Studies, which is prepared in cooperation with the Ontario Research Council on Leisure. Leisure/Loisir strives to publish a diverse collection of high quality papers in all areas of leisure, recreation, sport, and tourism. Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of these areas of studies and services, the journal accepts submissions of papers that use a wide range of disciplinary perspectives and research methods. These submissions may include, but are not limited to: empirical research papers (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods), conceptual papers, comprehensive review papers, policy and economic impact analyses, innovative practice descriptions and evaluations, and pedagogical aspects for leisure educators. Commentary, rejoinders, and other critical papers are also welcome. Book reviews are typically invited, but unsolicited book reviews are considered, as well. While Leisure/Loisir is based in Canada and offers a primary outlet for individuals affiliated with Canadian institutions, the journal encourages international submission. Leisure is a global phenomenon; therefore, the journal accepts submissions written from non-Canadian perspectives and/or by individuals affiliated with non-Canadian institutions. Needless to say, French manuscript submissions are strongly encouraged.
