Culture and Religion
Cult Relig

ISSN (printed): 1475-5610. ISSN (electronic): 1475-5629.

The principal aim of this journal is to promote critical investigation into all aspects of the study of religion and culture, particularly among scholars with an innovative and multidisciplinary focus. The journal seeks an engagement between scholars working across a range of disciplinary fields, including anthropology, cultural studies, critical theory, gender studies, and postcolonial studies. Lying at the interface between the study of religion and other academic studies of culture, Culture and Religion provides a forum for exploring both the neglect in cultural studies of the significance of religious manifestations in cross-cultural perspectives, and the engagement that the discipline of religious studies needs to make with other areas of contemporary critical, cultural and anthropological theory. Culture and Religion encourages article submissions on theory, methodology and detailed case case studies in the academic study of religion and culture, and particularly welcomes innovative papers which seek to re-examine and develop critical perspectives in this area. The journal accepts submissions from all parts of the world which examine particular religious traditions and movements - traditional or innovative in either contemporary, classical or historical forms - as well as those which deal with a theoretical and methodological critique of accepted academic conceptualisations of the field of religion.
