Molecular Ecology Notes is a new vehicle for the rapid dissemination of technical advances in molecular ecology, such as new computer programs, methodological innovations, and molecular marker development. Papers that report on the ecology, evolution, behaviour, and conservation of organisms, rather than on technical issues, should be submitted to our companion publication, Molecular Ecology. Molecular Ecology Notes publishes concise papers that appear in the journal as computer, technical, or primer notes. To ensure that time-sensitive material is disseminated to the molecular ecology community with minimal delay, notes accepted in the journal are published on-line immediately on acceptance, followed by quarterly distribution of a print version. In addition, Molecular Ecology Notes will maintain a user-friendly database for primer/locus information reported in primer notes, thereby providing a single source for primer sequences, amplification conditions, polymorphism levels, cross-species amplification, and literature citations.
