Glot International aims at keeping linguists abreast of developments in the field of linguistics, particularly theoretical linguistics. It does this in several ways. First, every issue of Glot International contains a so-called State-of-the-Article. This is an overview article summarizing the developments in sub-areas of the field of linguistics over the last two decades or so and addressing such questions as: What were the issues then? What solutions have been proposed for what questions? Which of these answers have lasted? What are the outstanding problems? Second, we pay ample attention to recent dissertations. Much of the research in linguistics is conducted by doctoral students. As a consequence, the results are published in dissertations and often do not get the attention they deserve. In Glot International, every issue highlights two or three dissertations in the form of a diptych, consisting of a summary written by the author of the dissertation and a review of the work by another specialist. Third, we publish reviews of important books. Because Glot International comes out ten times a year, we can publish book reviews faster than is normally the case. Fourth, Glot International has a squib section, for the newest ideas, in a short readable format. Finally, our conference reports keep you up to date on who said what at which conference.
