The Theory and Methods Section publishes papers containing original contributions to the theory and methodology of statistics econometrics and probability. The Applications section gives preference to papers featuring the use of new statistical procedures or the extension of existing statistical techniques to novel areas of application. It seeks to aid teachers of statistics by placing statistical methods in context. The Theory and Methods Section seeks papers motivated by a real problem and which demonstrate the proposed theory or methodology in that situation. Papers which identify limitations of current methodology and which provide practical solutions to overcome these limitations are also appropriate. Review articles which provide a detailed overview of theory and methodology of a particular subject area are welcome.
