Gene Funct
ISSN (printed): 1360-7413. ISSN (electronic): 1365-4624.
Genes and Function publishes research and review articles on the use of genetics to investigate the physiology of whole organisms. This includes reverse genetic approaches such as addition or removal of genes by transgenesis or gene targeting, and forward genetics by spontaneous or induced mutagenesis. The journal provides a platform for the functional analyses that are evolving from the genome projects.Genes and Function publishes work carried out in multicellular organisms ranging from C. elegans to Drosophila and from vertebrates and plants. Work on single cell organisms such as bacteria, archae and yeast is welcome, particularly where this provides insight into the mechanism or evolution of general physiological processes. Discontinued in 2002.
