The Turkish Journal of Sociology is a peer-reviewed and biannually published journal (June and December). It is the first sociology journal in Turkish and its history goes back to 1917. The Journal was first published by Ziya Gokalp, the pioneer and father of Turkish sociology. The Turkish Journal of Sociology made important contribution to the development of sociology as a discipline at the Istanbul University, which is the oldest university with a history of 560 years. The Journal is published by the Department of Sociology, founded in 1914, where many leading Turkish sociologists received their education. The Turkish Journal of Sociology is a multi-disciplinary journal, and scholars working on sociological theory, sociological research, human sciences and related areas are invited to submit their work for consideration. The journal also publishes review essays, reports on conferences, symposia and workshops, and notes on researches in progress.
