Ars Transsilvaniae

The journal Ars Transsilvaniae was founded in 1991 by the history of art section of the Institute of Archaeology and History of Art of the Romanian Academy from Cluj-Napoca. It is published in one volume a year, consisting of a single issue with an average number of pages of 250. The journal publishes studies (written in Romanian and other languages - mainly in English, German, and French) in area of medieval and premodern art history. The topics cover the branches of western, Byzantine, postbyzantine and Romanian architecture, painting, sculpture, decorative and applied arts. In addition to the studies Ars Transsilvaniae publishes presentations of conferences, symposia, colloquia concerning the specified area as well as the activity of the department of art history of the Institute, bibliographical information, book reviews. The editors look for new and high quality contributions. The journal is addressed to all specialists, Romanians and foreigners, interested in the field of medieval and premodern history of art. The journal has in present about 200 exchanges with other journals from Romania and abroad.
