Topia: Canadian Journal of Cultural Studies

ISSN (printed): 1206-0143. ISSN (electronic): 1916-0194.

TOPlA is a new scholarly journal in cultural and Canadian studies. Our purpose is to create a dialogue among researchers in other Commonwealth countries and the Americas who share a concern with cultures, nationalities, technologies, and the politics of space. The journal will publish historical and theoretical essays which address these issues and which contribute to interdisciplinary research in the humanities and social sciences. We are also committed to publishing cultural and political debates, book and conference reviews and cultural policy reports. Cultural studies is one of the fastest growing areas of teaching, research and publication in the academic world today. With the proliferation of international conferences, journals and books in the field, cultural studies has become the shared intellectual context for a fertile dialogue among thinkers within and between many countries. The intellectual framework that is emerging encourages both transnational exchanges and analyses of local, regional and national cultures. Topia aims to enrich the promising interdisciplinary scope of cultural studies by providing a Canadian context for critical research on culture.
