Canadian Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, The / Journal Canadien de Pharmacologie Clinique

ISSN: 1198-581X.

Since its inception 10 years ago, The Canadian Journal of Clinical Pharmacology has filled an important gap in therapeutics research in Canada. However, the Journal was circulated mostly in Canada and was read mostly by Canadian physicians and scientists. Even those who read our abstracts in Medline still had difficulties accessing the full papers. This has now been changed dramatically. In April 2004, The Canadian Journal of Clinical Pharmacology has become the first peer review, Medline scientific journal in Therapeutics to be published absolutely free on the Internet. This change reflects the vision and philosophy of the Canadian Society for Clinical Pharmacology, that original information on rational therapeutics needs to be accessible to all health professionals prescribing or administering medications, as well as for all other stakeholders, including patients and their families. This is the place to acknowledge and thank again the founding editor, Dr. Neil Shear, and the original publisher Mr. Robert Kalina of Pulsus Inc. of Burlington, Ontario for their vision, inspiration and dedication. The new venue, cyberspace, allows us not only access to the whole world, but also to introduce new media, such as publication of conference talks, where readers can see and listen to the speaker while seeing their slides. As crucial, we intend to shorten dramatically the time lag between acceptance of papers and their publication. We wish to thank our sponsors Novartis Pharma Canada Inc, Purdue Pharma, Merck Frosst Canada Ltd, and Fournier Pharma Inc, who have agreed to support the journal at arms length from their own marketing programs. These are exciting times, and we certainly hope you will feel at home in our journal and will make it a regular stop in your professional journey.
