Cybermetrics: International Journal of Scientometrics, Informetrics and Bibliometrics
Published/Hosted by Centro de Información y Documentación Científica.
Cybermetrics is both an Electronic-only Journal and a Virtual Forum (The Journal) devoted to the study of the quantitative analysis of scholarly and scientific communications. It is open to world-wide researchers to publish and discuss their findings. Internet offers them new and increased capabilities to distribute their results to a greater audience. The topics covered are the methodologies and results of scientometric, bibliometric or informetric research. Although emphasis is placed on aspects related to Internet, Cybermetrics is not restricted to them, therefore some other subjects are accepted such as: Application of scientometric methodology to the analysis of scientific communication in the Web and the Usenet, including the development of new Internet R&D indicators; Uses of citation analyses, including the hypertext linking phenomena, the informetric laws and distributions, and any mathematical model derived. Studies on aging, obsolescence, dispersion and endogamy phenomena of the scientific literature are also welcomed; Impact of the Internet on scientific co-operation and other aspects related to science organization, information flows and interdisciplinary connections; Informetric applications to Science policy and R&D management, including questions related to the emergence of national or regional STI systems; Evaluation of electronic scientific journals and peer-review processes in the World Wide Web. In particular, Cybermetrics is open to those contributions with special requirements, where the new graphical items (multimedia and/or dynamic objects) required by scientometric articles to represent the structure of scientific knowledge production are not suitable for printed publication.
