Children's Services: Social Policy, Research, and Practice

This journal is an academic and practical forum for the discussion of issues relating to important social policy matters pertinent to services for children and families, particularly as they bear on mental health, psychological development, and welfare. Potential topics of interest encompass a wide range of issues with an emphasis on service programs and service delivery systems, policy considerations, implementation, impact, and evaluation. The policy concerns may be for different approaches including programmatic, systems, or policy; interacting perspectives including family, policy, and psychosocial; and various arenas of impact including local, state, or national. Articles published in Children's Services describe services for children and families that are consistent with the best available knowledge about child and family development. They are screened for scientific rigor and literature foundation coupled with a need for civility and respect for human diversity. Serving as a forum for discussions of private and public policy without censorship of ideas, this journal publishes articles in a variety of formats including literature and conceptual review papers, empirical articles, case studies, commentary, brief letters and reactions to policies and actions, point-counterpoint debates, and task force reports.
