International Journal of Self Help and Self Care

ISSN: 1091-2851.

A unique new Journal designed to link together the wide spectrum of people, issues, and viewpoints involved in the dynamically growing, world-wide self-help movement. As a subscriber, you can look to IJSHSC first for accurate newsworthy information on all the current developments in the world of self-help groups - locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally; on clearinghouse activities, contacts with government officials, new programs, advocacy actions, coalitions, funding possibilities and computer networking for contact and data, to name just a few. IJSHSC presents viewpoints and opinions on the most important issues in the self help field today, such as: relationships of professionals to self help groups, and vice versa; relationships of 12-step and non 12-step programs; sponsoring auspices for and personnel of clearinghouses; can government subsidies to self help groups exist without restrictive government control? IJSHSC contains articles of a scientific character - presentations of theory and research on self-help, as well as notices of current literature and other materials of value in the field. Occasional thematic issues will focus on: 12-step and on 12-step groups, their likenesses and differences, their relationships, examples of cooperation; the self-help movement among minorities - Blacks, Hispanics, Asians; AIDS and self-help; and self help and spirituality.
