By the end of the twenty-first century average life expectancy is projected to extend an astonishing 100 years. In light of this prognostication society's attitudes toward aging must be reevaluated. Journal of Aging and Identity is designed to examine the phenomenon of aging as it is presented in literature popular culture and the arts. Articles address a wide range of compelling issues including attitudes toward aging as depicted in the writing and art of various cultures that offer alternatives to the Western fixation on youth. The journal provides a forum for interdisciplinary dialogue with contributions from experts in the humanities and the biomedical behavioral and social sciences.
