Signals From The Future
Published/Hosted by The Institute for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research.
From the Editor: "To some Signals from the Future may be a curious name for the newsletter of a research organization. It certainly catches the attention of most. At first it might seem ambiguous. It perhaps brings to mind a form of communication which, may or may not be understood at the time, which come to us from imminent, parallel or even distant futures. These communiqué might even be of different natures: messages of woe, warnings, benevolent tidings or resounding hope. These "signals" are potential messages of uncertainty. We are, ideally, a futures organization. The Institute listens to the heartbeat of the world, monitors technological development, examines emerging issues and presents possible courses to deal with change for public, business and government organizations. We wanted the title of our newsletter the title to reflect our futures orientated perspective. Signals from the Future fit our ideal well. Our ideal concept in a newsletter was to discuss current issues, policies and new enabling technologies as a service to those who subscribe. We want the general public to be able to make intelligent informed choices. Hence, we report hints and whispers of what might possibly to come in the future and what we report are signals from the future."
