This journal presents research that builds public relations theory by examining our understanding of why organizations practice public relations as they do and by studying ways to conduct public relations more effectively. It also provides scholarly criticism of public relations practice, and helps to develop the history, ethics, and philosophy of public relations. It is produced for the Public Relations Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication in cooperation with public relations educators in the International Communication Association, the Public Relations Society of America, the International Association of Business Communicators, and the National Communication Association.
