Journal of Ministry in Addiction & Recovery

ISSN (printed): 1053-8755. ISSN (electronic): 1528-6908.

Ministers, chaplains, and other lay professionals working with addictions need an opportunity to share ideas and concerns with regard to the addictive process and recovery. The Journal of Ministry in Addiction & Recovery is the vehicle for sharing those ideas and concerns. It provides pastoral caregivers with the latest and most innovative methods of ministry in relation to addicted patients and their families. It promotes theological thinking about the many issues surrounding addiction and can serve as your primary source of information about the interdisciplinary aspects of treatment that can assist in a more holistic approach to the issues of addiction today. This unique journal differs from existing sources in the field, focusing specifically on addiction and recovery ministry and acting as a central forum for a holistic approach to dealing with addiction. Effective work in addiction requires that all professionals--including those in ministry--work in a cooperative effort for the health and welfare of all those who are touched by the addiction and recovery process. The Journal of Ministry in Addiction & Recovery is designed for both pastoral caregivers involved with services and programs for addicted clients and also for substance abuse treatment centers that are interested in expanding their services to include pastoral/ministry services as a part of the team approach. The journal also guides addiction and recovery in new directions for other disciplines in the field, including professionals in medicine, psychology, psychiatry, social work, and other related helping professions.
