Review of Modern Logic, The
Rev Mod Logic

ISSN: 1047-5982.

The Review of Modern Logic is a journal of symbolic logic, foundations, the foundations of mathematics, and set theory. The original title of The Review of Modern Logic was Modern Logic; the orginating interest of Modern Logic was the history of symbolic logic. Later Modern Logic also became interested in the philosophy of symbolic logic. Modern Logic has since become what might be regarded as the equivalent for symbolic logic of what the The New York Review of Books is for general culture. Indeed The Review of Modern Logic is interested in all aspects of symbolic logic, including foundations, the foundations of mathematics, and set theory, though it is not particularly interested in publishing papers devoted to the technical development of pre-existing logical or axiomatic systems. Accordingly, The Review of Modern Logic is interested in publishing papers in the history of symbolic logic, in the philosophy of symbolic logic, and even papers in symbolic logic per se that introduce new logical or axiomatic systems. Likewise, The Review of Modern Logic is interested in publishing surveys of developments in symbolic logic, such as a survey of alternative set theories; translations of works in symbolic logic, such as a translation into English from the original German of one of Cantor's papers on set theory; and source materials in symbolic logic, such as a letter from Cantor to Hilbert. The Review of Modern Logic is especially interested in publishing reviews of works in symbolic logic, works such as books or papers. Likewise, The Review of Modern Logic is interested in publishing critiques of developments in symbolic logic.
