The journal "Calitatea vietii" was founded in 1990, under the initiative of its present Editor-in-chief and Director of the Research Institute for the Quality of Life, Prof. Dr. Cãtãlin Zamfir. The publication was planned to be the periodical of this institute. The journal is generally published in two volumes a year, consisting of 2 numbers each (four numbers per year), with a total number of pages of 250. The year 2000 was an exception, the journal being issued in one volume containing 4 numbers: 1-4/2000. The journal publishes scientific papers, preferably written in Romanian, but also in English, mainly in the areas of the quality of life and social policy, but also in other areas such as: community development, social services, economic standard, etc. In general, the papers published are: research studies, research reports and field research results, social indices analyses, social policy and quality of life analyses and evaluations. We publish also papers based on case studies. The journal contains a special column for book reviews. The journal addresses its articles to the entire public interested by social issues, though especially to the academic environment, and to the political decision-makers and social policy-makers. The journal has presently 26 exchanges with universities, institutions, associations, and libraries from all over the world, and a number of 62 subscriptions.
