Performability engineering offers a framework for generating scientific research and its application in the area of dependability and sustainability, not only to optimize the performance of the products and systems but also to optimize the inputs and outputs of the processes that produce them. As we move in to 21st Century, it becomes obvious that the problems of dependability and sustainability cannot be considered in isolation as they are closely interlinked and they must be fine tuned at every stage of life cycle activities which include design, manufacture, use and disposal. More so, since dependability, in fact, is strongly influenced by the raw materials, fabrication techniques and manufacturing processes employed, including their control and usage. The aim of the journal is to provide a common forum for researchers, scientists, engineers, designers, manufacturers and users to share the ideas, problems and their solutions and the new perspectives in dependability and sustainability offer opportunity to learn from one another.
