Clinician in Management
ISSN (printed): 0965-5751. ISSN (electronic): 1475-9926.
Discontinued in 2007. Continued by The International Journal of Clinical Leadership (1757-207X). Clinician in Management has grown with the development of its sponsoring organisation, The British Association of Medical Managers. It now represents an established forum for the exchange of experience, expertise and innovative ideas for all those leading clinical and organisational teams throughout the health service. Many of the articles published in Clinician in Management demonstrate the productive use of resources; others may show how multi-disciplinary collaboration can lead to lasting benefits. But Clinician in Management is not just about success; it is not afraid to report failure if this will help managers recognise similar pitfalls in their own organisation. Therefore, it emphasises the application of policy and governance in the real world of conflicting ideals and financial constraint. In addition, the journal has an education role beyond the presentation of case studies and examples of good practice. Contributions on accreditation, revalidation and continuing professional development are welcomed in Clinician in Management. Audit and other research techniques, so much a part of developments in primary care but equally relevant throughout the health service are also important. Clinician in Management is, therefore, the professionals' journal, dealing essentially with practical problems in a practical way. Its readers are also its writers and the authority of Clinician in Management among health service leaders attracts peer-revieweed contributions of fundamental and lasting value.
