The Journal of Programming Languages is a peer-reviewed electronic-only journal which provides a forum for research in high level language design and implentation. The journal presents work of practical relevance and disseminates knowledge obtained from experiment and observation. The broad spectrum of topics covered by the Journal includes: programming language design and standards, portability, implementation techniques, comparative operating system interfaces, optimization, parallelization, benchmarking, language implementation influences on machine architecture, and high-level language support for novel architectures. The Journal also presents tutorial articles which review research in specific fields relevant to the scope of the Journal. Discontinued in 2004.
