Remarkable changes are occurring in the field of power and energy, from the new types of plant being introduced in the developed world to the staggering growth in electricity demand in the developing nations. Environmental legislation is affecting the use of fossil fuels and encouraging renewable energy developments. Safety, waste disposal and new plant financing continue to concern nuclear power, whilst the increased availability of natural gas is being exploited in combined cycles and co-generation. Against this changing scene, scientific discovery, increasing computer power and new material developments are producing cost savings and plant performance improvement. The Journal of Power and Energy covers all aspects of fuel recovery, energy conversion, transmission and use, including economic and policy issues. The scope extends to: Gas and steam turbines, internal combustion engines (non-automotive applications), compressors, pumps and hydraulic systems; renewable energy systems; clean coal technology; fuel cells; energy storage systems; nuclear power and waste disposal; fuel recovery and energy from waste; combustion and emission control; heat exchange, evaporation, condensation and cooling systems; combined cycles, co-generation and CHP; cycle thermodynamics and the application of CFD.
