The SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics publishes high-quality research papers on a broad range of topics from pure and applied discrete mathematics including: Combinatorics and Graph Theory: especially discrete structures, extremal problems, posets, enumeration, and network algorithms; Combinatorial Optimization and Mathematical Programming: especially network optimization, integer programming, approximation algorithms, and randomized algorithms; Theoretical Computer Science (those results with a significant discrete mathematics component): especially computational complexity, randomization, algorithms, and parallel and distributed computing; Coding and Information Theory: especially error-correcting codes, data compression, switching networks, and communication protocols. The emphasis of the SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics is on theoretical approaches, as opposed to empirical ones.
