The International Journal of Machine Tools & Manufacture is concerned primarily with the publication of papers dealing with design, research and development of technologies, hardware and management systems applied to manufacture, using metals and non-metals. To this end, coverage is given to such topics as: Mechanics of processes including cutting, forming, casting and novel manufacturing methods Design and development of machines Manufacturing systems within which the processes are utilized Relevant topics in plasticity Tool design, tool wear and failure monitoring Process development and new or novel processes Economics of production and manufacture Machine tool control and instrumentation CAD/CAM Materials handling including robotics Metrology and surface engineering including nanotechnology The above list is by no means exhaustive and papers on associated topics will be welcomed. In general, the Editor will consider papers covering both new developments of traditional methods and the introduction of novel processes and manufacturing techniques. Industrial relevance is a key factor and it is important that papers are presented in a manner which may be appreciated by practising engineers as well as by research workers and educationalists.
