Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas is a scientific journal whose main purpose is the publication of sociological research. It is also open to contributions from other social sciences, as long as they are of interest to sociology. Its aim is to disseminate research work on Portuguese society and other contexts, related or comparable to it and, more comprehensively, contemporary social forms and processes. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas editorial guidelines are based on principles of scientific quality, paradigmatic openness and social relevance. It seeks to publish articles that make significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge. Whenever possible it combines texts by senior authors with outstanding first works by young researchers. Articles submitted for publication are sent to recognised specialists for independent refereeing on an anonymous basis. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas was founded in 1986 by CIES, the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology of ISCTE - Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa. The journal has an Editor, an Editorial Committee and an international Editorial Board. It is published by CIES and Celta Editora. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas publishes articles in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish. Three issues are published each year.
