ISSN (printed): 0835-1813. ISSN (electronic): 1532-7973.

Research on Language and Social Interaction is a multidisciplinary journal committed to publishing outstanding research about language and other social codes that are consequential for interaction; and the structure, dynamics, or functions of social interaction. The journal welcomes studies of talk in interaction; linguistic pragmatic work; strategic analyses of discourse; investigations of the relationship between speech communities and language-related behaviors; and research on the values and motives, and practices and constraints on interaction. Study of casual conversation, institutional settings, and interaction mediated by computer and other new technologies are within the journal's purview. Research may be conducted in the laboratory or in the field, and may involve conversation analysis, discourse analysis, quantitative coding, interviewing, and analyses of observational, document, or archival data. Papers that review and schematize existing research and theory, or propose solutions to existing methodological or theoretical problems are also welcome.
