It contains original research articles major and minor reviews and short communications on all aspects of Saccharomyces and other yeast genera. The topics covered include: genetics; genomics; molecular biology; cell and developmental biology; biochemistry; physiology; pathobiology; biotechnology; ecology; taxonomy; and evolution. The journal contains three special sections: Yeast Sequencing Reports Yeast Mapping Reports and Yeast Functional Analysis Reports. These deal respectively with the systematic analysis of the sequences placement and function of genes. In addition the journal promotes the collegiate activities of the yeast research community by publishing announcements of Meetings and Courses as well as the Abstracts of major conferences . Yeast also has a Current Awareness on Yeast section that provides a comprehensive survey of recent publications on yeasts.
