AION (Filol) is the philological-literary section of the Annali of the Università di Napoli - l'Orientale, edited by Dipartimento di Studi del Mondo Classico e del Mediterraneo Antico. Founded in 1979, the journal publishes the findings of the philological-literary research conducted by the Department by which is published, that concerns the history of Greek and Latin literature, and, more generally, the history of ancient culture in all its aspects (religion, philosophy, law, politics, poetics, rhetoric, science). Besides, it deals with the linguistic analysis of the two classical language, the structure of each text and the problems connected with their trasmission through the centuries, from the Middle Ages to Humanism and the Renaissance. It is obviously open to external contributors from the same areas of research; it often publishes entire volumes on the proceedings of meetings organized by the Orientale or by other Universities, in conjuction with scholars who work or have worked for the Orientale.
