Founded in 1936 by Luigi Einaudi (editor until 1943), Rivista di storia economica was republished in 1984. It has been published by Il Mulino since 1997. Inspired by the modernity of Einaudi’s method, the journal is directed to historians, economists and scholars in the social sciences. It deals with Italian, European and Extra-European history on the assumption that connections between history and economics can enrich both disciplines. The main focus is on the events and the institutions related to economics from ancient times to the present. Rivista di Storia Economica pays special attention to contemporary age economic politics which is considered within the historical context and in relation to the economic thought. It also promotes seminars selecting the most significant contributions for publication.
