The Journal of Elasticity was founded in 1971 by Marvin Stippes (1922ñ1979) its main purpose being to report original and significant discoveries in elasticity. Such results are reported as full research papers or research notes. Well documented historical essays are also published. Materials which prove effective in teaching are published as classroom notes. Original contributions in the broader areas of mechanics mechanics of materials and engineering sciences that have a bearing on developments in elasticity are welcomed.
