Geographica Slovenica was founded in 1971 in order to publish the research results in the field social geography. All 34 volumes have laid stress upon Slovenian countryside transformation, rural settlement development, village modernisation, and land use changes. Besides researches dealing with geographical environment degradation, articles about ethno geographical and political geographical problems connected to geopolitical situation of Slovenia were also published. Studies about border areas and national minorities living there and the situation of Slovenian communities around the world were issued as well. In 2003 it merged with Geografski zbornik/Acta Geographica in Acta Geographica Slovenica.
