Evolutionary Ecology is a conceptually oriented journal of basic biology which publishes original review and research papers dealing with evolutionary and behavioural ecology population ecology and evolutionary population biology. The emphasis of the journal is in the theoretical development of ecology and evolutionary biology. The scope of the journal is not biased with respect to taxon or biome. Theoretical as well as empirical contributions with solid theoretical background are welcome. Research articles: The key ideas assumptions and results of theoretical papers should be understandable for non-mathematical readers. Mathematical results may be presented in short appendices if the results are necessary for the biological content of the report. Empirical papers should test current theories in evolutionary and population ecology provide novel perspectives to theories or evoke new hypotheses. Evolutionary perspectives: Short reviews about the development of ideas theories and research areas in evolutionary and population biology. The reviews should provide a perspective for future development in the field or novel solutions for current problems. Evolutionary concepts: Short notes ideas or comments on biological or philosophical problems that are central in the development of ecological and evolutionary theory.
