Published in association with The Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research (CILT) and the British Council Language Teaching is an international journal which keeps readers informed of the latest findings in research relevant to language studies in education. The journal offers authoritative coverage of all significant international work combined with particularly comprehensive coverage of European scholarship and research. Abstracts Each issue contains a collection of over 150 abstracts reporting up-to-date research in second and foreign language learning and teaching. The abstracts are compiled by scanning a wide range of key periodicals in different languages; the best of the current work is selected and summarised in English. Review Articles Each issue also contains a specially commissioned authoritative state-of-the-art article which surveys an important area of the field. Recent and forthcoming topics include learner strategies formulaic language motivation bilingual education in Europe and progression in foreign language learning. In an annual research review Richard Johnstone also surveys the field to identify significant and emerging research trends in language teaching and learning over the previous year.
