Marine Ecology continues the tradition of the early reports of the Stazione Zoologica di Napoli (SZN), founded by Anton Dohrn in 1879. Darwinism was not even 10 years old when the first volume was published. The objects of research have become far more complex and involve investigations of organs, cells, or cell components, the organism within its environment, and related fields that may provide clues to the delicate interrelationships between organisms, as well as distribution patterns, stratifications, behaviour, bottom structures, sediments, and climates.
