Journal of Social Service Research
J Soc Serv Res

ISSN (printed): 0148-8376. ISSN (electronic): 1540-7314.

Articles in the Journal of Social Service Research range from clinical research to empirical policy studies, with the main concern being the publication of research that makes a conceptual contribution to the social services field. Recent issues of the journal have covered: patterns of residential transitions between homeless and domiciled states among homeless women with children, single women, and single men; a deviance syndrome perspective - examines how much overlap there is between certain deviant behaviors among adolescents and investigates whether the same theoretical elements account for variance in those behaviors; the behavior problems of children receiving services through an adoption preservation program for legally adopted children at risk of placement or dissolution; the use of anonymous enrollment as a technique for engaging and retaining respondents in research; the developmental stages of an action research project, that is, research which actively involves the participants and other community members at all stages and which is designed to provide them tangible benefits; a detailed description of conceptual, methodological, and measurement issues pertaining to research with ethnic minority women; issues arising in research with ethnic minority elders.
