This journal is a publication of the Institute of Electronics and Computer Sciences, which for many years was affiliated with the Latvian Academy of Sciences. In 1996 the Institute became an integral part of the University of Latvia and at the same time entered into cooperation with Westminster University to form an International Laboratory of Digital Alias-Free Signal Processing. The Institute's journal publishes articles in the following three areas of research: Automatic Control: Modeling and identification, Control systems, Real time systems, Artificial intelligence in control systems, Technological process control, Control methods and equipment in the fields of industry, ecology, natural resources, etc. Distributed Information Processing: Communication systems, Network information technologies, Information security, Information processing systems and process modeling, Distributed computer system interaction, Expert systems. Signal Processing: Signal digitization, Signal detection and methods of their analysis, Digital filtration, Signal processing methods and means, Signal processing in medicine, geophysics, astrophysics, technology and other fields
