South Asia is a refereed journal published under the authority of the South Asian Studies Association of Australia. It appears three times a year, in April, August and December. Its mission is to provide a forum for scholarly research, comment and discussion on the history, society, economy, culture and international relations of the South Asian region from the earliest times to the present day. Ordinarily there are two general issues each year, and one dedicated to a topical theme. Now in the 26th year of its second series (the very first issue came out in 1971), South Asia is the world's senior journal of record for the South Asian region.
