American Orthoptic Journal was founded in 1950 by the American Orthoptic Council and is the official journal of The American Association of Certified Orthoptists. The journal serves as a forum for orthoptists and ophthalmologists to present new material in the fields of amblyopia and strabismus. Materials contained in the journal include freely submitted articles, papers presented at regional and national meetings, the Richard G. Scobee Memorial Lecture, and the Strabismus Symposium at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as abstracts of English, French, German, and Spanish literature on the subjects of amblyopia and strabismus. Through the journal, members of the orthoptic and ophthalmologic communities can keep abreast of current clinical practice and research in the field of ocular motility.
