The scope of the Journal is international and covers the breadth of forestry science. While plantation forestry is a particular focus, manuscripts on a wide range of forestry topics (including tropical species, climate change, and policy) will also be considered. Manuscripts are categorised using the seven criteria: Biodiversity (including genetics and indigenous species); Productive Capacity/Forest Management; Forest Health and Vitality; Soil and Water Resources; Global Carbon Cycles; Social/Economic Impacts of Forestry (including primary wood products, secondary wood products, and economics); and Forestry Policy. The Journal is edited and produced by Scion in Rotorua on behalf of the forestry interests of New Zealand. It began publication in May 1971.
