International Relations is the journal of the David Davies Memorial Institute of International Studies. The Institute was created in London in 1951 to commemorate the work of David Davies (1880-1944) who founded the world's first chair of International Politics at the University College of Wales at Aberystwyth in 1919. The journal was established in 1954. In 2001 it was then transferred, along with the Institute, to the Department of International Politics in Aberystwyth. Its purpose then, and its objective now, is to publish the best refereed work in the variety of intellectual traditions that constitute the subject of international politics. In addition to mainstream articles, the journal also seeks to promote debate and discussion, and thus invites shorter submissions, replies to articles and review articles.
